All tests in this database have been proven to have substantial clinical utility in particular clinical situations, but it may not be clinically appropriate to undertake a molecular genetic test for all patients with a given condition. Specialist guidance needs to be sought prior to requesting a molecular genetic test. If a request outside the normal referral guidelines for a particular disease has been submitted, the head of the laboratory may refer it back for such guidance to be obtained before instituting the analysis requested.
